Pray, Wendy, Pray

Pray, Wendy, Pray

So, I am thinking about Gene Simmons and Jerry Jones and how they should stick to what they are made to do and what they are good at!  What is your calling and what are you made to do?  How are you wired and what are your gifts?

Since returning home from cross-cultural living, I have waited on God and pondered these very things.  I did not want to rush in and get busy and the only place I know that feels the most like home is to pray.

I know that God has made me to pray—it is my default, my instinct and my passion.  I love to pray!  So, I did feel freedom to pursue those opportunities and in the process God has surprised me by reminding me of old dreams, by assuring me He gave me these desires and to have courage to pursue them.  I started by taking cello lessons year before last and then last year began to dream and pursue writing projects.  During the Olympics, I noticed how much I loved the running events and was remembering fondly that my family is a running family.  Because I am not as fast as my brother and did not have the drive for marathon like my dad, I always believed I was not a runner.  God spoke to me this summer, I made you a runner.  What does that mean? For me, I don’t like the pressure of competition or races or having to be anywhere or consistently on time.  So, I came up with the idea that I am training for an un5K—it’s free, no more needless t-shirts and it fits with my schedule which is constantly starting over due to family obligations—perfect.  I love it so much.

Today, I discovered the audio function on my favorite magazine, The Economist.  So, I was running and listening to the articles and quite naturally, I paused to take it all in and think about it and then found myself pouring out a prayer for Tanzania and the street hawkers and for governments and so on!  Again, God said, I made you to run and pray.

 I love that.

What if I stop believing lies or doing activities that are not mine to do and start listening to God, believing Him for who I am and discovering that my desires were put there by Him in the first place?  What does that look like for you?

Father, you promise us that when we delight ourselves in you, you will give us the desires of our hearts. Give us the courage to dream your big dreams for our lives and to pull that out in each other! Amen
